MyNetFone Sponsors Pink Torres Kitesurf Expedition

MyNetFone is proud to be one of the major sponsors of the Pink Torres kitesurf expedition, which aims to fundraise $100,000 for the McGrath Foundation.  Kicking off on July 12, the ambitious team of 16 kitesurfers will attempt to cross the Torres Strait from far north Queensland all the way to Papua New Guinea.

The journey will take the team more than 280 kilometres across the infamous Torres Strait from Cape York to Saibai island, with stopovers at the uninhabited reef at Kirkadie and Coconut island, Yorke Island and Mission Reef Sand Cay.  The physically taxing journey, which will see the team kitesurfing all day to cover the huge distance, is expected to take five days. Of particular concern will be the salt water crocs and reef sharks known to populate the Torres!

The aim of the expedition is to raise $100,000 to help fund the amazing work of the McGrath Foundation. As of June 2013, the McGrath Foundation has helped support over 20,000 Australian families experiencing breast cancer, ensuring their physical, psychological and basic support needs are met. With 84 McGrath Breast Care Nurses working in communities right across Australia, families can self refer to this free service. Through community fundraising such as the Pink Torres kite surfing expedition the McGrath Foundation continues to work tirelessly to ensure there is a breast care nurse to support every Australian family experiencing breast cancer.
